The WRPA are pleased to announce Philippa Hearnden as their new Head of Business.

The Welsh Rugby Players Association are pleased to announce Philippa Hearnden as their new Head of Business.

This is the second such change in as many months with the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive (Barry Cawte) in September.

These steps mark a new period for the WRPA as it tries to realise it's vision of being an independent, influential and courageous voice for all professional rugby players in Wales. This Head of Business role is key in ensuring that the trade union functions appropriately to promote,  protect, represent and develop the professional rugby players of Wales.

Since 2015, Philippa Hearnden has been an integral part of the WRPA as the Business Support Executive, supporting and delivering the WRPA’s business objectives. With the exciting developments within the WRPA over the last year, and to better reflect the scope of her workload, Philippa will now take the title of the WRPA’s Head of Business. Philippa’s new role will see her expand and develop the WRPA areas of commerciality, finances, partnerships and player services.

Philippa continues her role as Trustee to the WRPA’s charity Second Half Rugby, developing the structure and services available to players facing hardship and in need for life-changing support.

On her new role, Philippa says

"It's fantastic that my commitment to the players is being recognised with this promotion and I am delighted to be part of this exciting future with the WRPA. With a strong business foundation, we can continue to deliver our personal development programme and support our members as effectively as possible; ensuring that every voice of professional players here in Wales is heard.”

Chief Executive, Barry Cawte said:

"We are delighted to offer this role to Philippa who is integral to the future success of the association. She has a bright future in sport and we are determined to keep our best people by recognising their efforts and commitment"
